WORD: Send fonts used in your document

Your beautiful Word documents deserve to be seen as you intended. In this video, we’ll show you how to embed fonts in the document, so they can be opened by anyone.

Keep Your Fonts Intact by Embedding Them in Word

Ever shared a Word document only to see your carefully chosen fonts replaced on someone else’s computer? Embedding fonts ensures your typography stays exactly as you intended—no matter the device.

How to Embed Fonts in Word

  1. Open your document and click the File tab.
  2. Select Options at the bottom of the menu.
  3. In the Word Options window, go to the Save tab.
  4. Scroll to Preserve fidelity when sharing this document and check Embed fonts in the file.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • Embed all characters: Avoid checking “Embed only the characters used in the document” unless file size is a concern. This ensures others can fully edit your text with the embedded fonts.
  • Include system fonts: Keep “Do not embed common system fonts” unchecked to safely include widely used fonts.

Embedding fonts keeps your documents looking perfect and fully editable, wherever they’re opened.
